Learning and Development SVQs are suitable for people working within training or learning and development roles, with individuals or groups of learners. These awards require candidates to demonstrate competence in developing, planning, designing and delivery of training and learning programmes, and assessment and evaluation skills in learning and development contexts.
Level 4 is aimed at senior trainers, or training co-ordinators/managers who plan, deliver and evaluate programmes and/or have some management responsibility for others. Level 4 candidates would be expected to have responsibility for developing and implementing training programmes, and some management of trainers.
Entry is at the discretion of the assessment centre. As these are work-based qualifications, candidates must be working in a training role to ensure they are able to generate the required work-based evidence.

Learning and Development SVQ’s are suitable for people working within training or learning and development roles, with individuals or groups of learners. These awards require candidates to demonstrate competence in developing, planning, designing and delivery of training and learning programmes, and assessment and evaluation skills in learning and development contexts.
Level 3 is suitable for trainers, facilitators, mentors, tutors, coaches, instructors or anyone with a training responsibility in addition to their main job. Level 3 candidates are expected to have responsibility for planning, delivering and evaluating training.
Entry is at the discretion of the assessment centre. As these are work-based qualifications, candidates must be working in a training role to ensure they are able to generate the required work-based evidence.

The Assessor Award, L&D9DI, is designed for people working in an existing Assessment Centre and can register their own candidates. Student assessor candidates can be at any level within the student assessors professional competence remit.
Employees who take on the role of assessing competence of colleagues or team members. Must already hold an SVQ at or above the level which will be assessed by this candidate, and must be occupationally competent in the awards to be assessed.

Learning & Development
Employees undertaking the Internal Verifier award must already hold an assessor's award and have 2 years experience of undertaking the role of assessor within the workplace.

At SCQF level 6, candidates have a broad range of activities with significant complexity, responsibility and autonomy, often in a supervisory or team-leading role. Mandatory units cover managing workload, communicating and planning, and improving one’s own performance in a business environment. There is again a wide range of optional units including: work responsibilities, document production and design, managing events, customer service, managing business resources, and managing information and data.

Level 5 involves a greater range of activities with some degree of complexity and limited autonomy. Mandatory units cover undertaking allocated work, and communicating and managing one’s own performance in a business environment. There is a wide range of optional units including: document production, supporting events, meetings and diaries, customer service, IT and various specialist administrative functions.

SCQF level 8 candidates will normally be managers with responsibility for staff and/or financial or other resources. Mandatory units involve managing and being accountable for own performance, and managing work and communication in a business environment. Optional units include business support services, project management, managing business resources, innovation and change, managing Information and data, customer service and communication.

The SVQ Management Level 4 is assessed in the workplace. Examples of the settings or centre’s in which the SVQ is likely to be delivered include: Oil and Gas Industry, the NHS and Private organisations.

Suitable for candidates who are experienced staff members and are capable of working without direct supervision and also have some supervisory element to their role. They will be looking to gain more experience in the management element of social care. This level is for candidates who have some autonomy in their day-to-day activities. For example, care at home or key workers roles.

Suitable for candidates who are involved in very practical hands-on care and/or support tasks in their day-to-day work. This can be within a residential setting or supporting individuals in their own homes.

Professional Development Award (PDA) In Social Services and Health Care Supervision – All levels
This award is aimed at employees who have already achieved SVQ Level 3 in Social Services and Health Care, HNC in Social Care or HEC in Person-Centred Approaches. This PDA meets the Scottish Social Services Council minimum qualification requirements for registration as a supervisor in Social Care.
